Sign our European Week Campaign Charter!

Are you concerned by the human and financial cost of noise at work? Do you wish to contribute to a European-wide campaign aimed at risk reduction and prevention awareness? If yes, then you might be interested to know more about the Agency’s current health and safety campaign, and the European Week Campaign Charter. If you and your organisation would like to be active in this campaign and conduct activities during European Week, 24-28 October 2005, you are eligible to sign the Campaign Charter and have your efforts recognised by means of a certificate of participation.

There are many types of activities possible during European Week. Just to give you some examples, you might consider:

  • Special risk identification and assessment activities
  • Safety audits in the workplace
  • Training seminars or workshops
  • Production of awareness-raising information material
  • Organisation of 'good neighbour schemes' where larger companies support smaller ones to develop concrete prevention measures
  • Competitions or suggestion schemes to encourage idea generation
  • Launch of new workplace policy or prevention initiative

These are just some examples - you are welcome to use your own creativity in thinking up other initiatives. The main condition is that the activities fall within the framework outlined in the Campaign Charter itself.

Once you sign the Campaign Charter, using the special electronic European Week Campaign Charter Signature Form, the Agency will send you a personalised certificate in recognition of your commitment to improving health and safety in noise at work.

"Workplace noise is a growing concern for European workers, not only in traditionally "noisy" sectors such as agriculture and construction but also in offices, hospitals, restaurants and schools. The ETUC fully supports the Agency campaign and will use its networks to distribute and promote the prevention message far and wide."

John Monks, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation
